Modeling
Blender’s modeling toolset is extremely robust, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t a few areas where we can streamline common repetitive tasks. Most of the features in this category are designed to be smaller quality of life improvements that reduce the more tedious workflows we find ourselves doing when manipulating geometry.
Merge Vertex Pie
This feature is enabled by default, but can be disabled by unchecking
Use merge vertex pie menuin theKeymapsection of the add-on preferences.
We’re big fans of pie menus, and the “Merge Vertex” menu is a great candidate to receive the pie menu treatment. This makes it easy to merge vertices by pressing M and moving your mouse in the direction of the desired merge operation. We find this to be a much faster workflow when compared to the default merge menu.
Quick Symmetrize
The quick symmetrize operator performs a bisection on any selected mesh objects and then mirrors the geometry using the Mirror modifier. By default, it will mirror the geometry across the positive axis to the negative axis. This can be flipped by checking the “Flip” option in the operator panel.
You can find this operator by right-clicking on a selected object while in object mode.
